What is an ACTS Retreat?
Acts of the Apostles, 2:42-47:
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved."
An ACTS retreat is a three-day Catholic lay retreat, beginning Thursday evening and ending Sunday with Mass. Separate retreats are held for men and women. Scripture and Catholic teachings guide the retreat, reflecting the sponsoring parish's traditions. The retreat aims to deepen participants' relationships with God through activities focused on Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service (ACTS).
• Adoration: Reverent worship and devotion to God.
• Community: Building a supportive Christian fellowship.
• Theology: Studying and understanding religious beliefs and Catholic teachings.
• Service: Living out one's faith through acts of compassion and charity towards others.
Why attend an ACTS Retreat?
Attending an ACTS Retreat presents individuals with a transformative journey, offering them a sacred space to delve deeper into their spiritual beliefs and forge a more profound connection with God. Through engaging in reflective practices, heartfelt discussions, and communal worship, participants cultivate lasting bonds with fellow believers, fostering a sense of belonging and support within the Christian community. Moreover, by embracing the principles of service and selflessness, attendees are empowered to enact positive change in the world, embodying the teachings of love and compassion espoused by their faith.
